Environmental labeling: how we share the information

Written by Serpac | Dec 30, 2022 3:41:57 PM

As the interest towards recycling materials increases, along with the need for environmental sustainability, Europe has issued directives on how to correctly package and label waste. The purpose is to provide appropriate and helpful information to consumers, so that packaging products can be collected, reused, restored, and ultimately recycled.

These directives have been implemented in Italy. The Legislative Decree art. 219, comma 5 of D.L.vo 152/06, starting from January 1st, 2023, requires manufacturers to specify the type of materials with which packagings are made.
There are different ways to do this, from printing the information directly on the product itself, to sharing it through documents and/or computer systems (when allowed).

It should be noted that the flow of information regarding the type of packagings and their correct disposal needs to be functional and transparent. Dangerous goods aren’t exempted from these directives, they will also have to display the necessary information for their disposal.

How did Serpac decide to share this information?

  1. Products on sale

    The better part of our products, save from a few exceptions, will have the correct environmental label. This label will be:

    • Printed directly on the product;
    • Placed on a supplementary label on the product’s packaging.

    The information will be additionally integrated, replaced or supported on every Document of Transport.

    Furthermore, environmental labeling will also be added on our website, as well as every product’s technical datasheet.

  2. Products Serpac uses for shipping
    Even in this case every package, save from a few exceptions, will have the correct environmental label.

We also compiled a summary of the materials Serpac utilizes when shipping to its clients. On this page you will find a recap of the materials with their related waste disposal instructions.
