The hidden danger of beauty products (when we transport them)

Don’t panic, though! A product being dangerous for transport does not necessarily cause harm to people. Essential oils, known to have beneficial and sometimes therapeutical effects on people, are ruled as hazardous materials because oil is a highly flammable product.

As we were writing before, the classification of goods considered dangerous for transportation does not only refer to the shipment of volatile chemicals. It applies to anything that might be dangerous to transport without special care, and this includes most perfumes. Beauty products, such as cologne and perfumes are dangerous because they are highly flammable.

Another key product, used in large quantities in many households or dedicated shops, is nail polish. These varnishes are produced with a base of acetone: here is why they have such a strong smell when opened. Nail polish removers are acetone-based, too, in a purer concentration, which is even more dangerous.

Pay attention to Regulations!

If you need to ship these products to a private user or a beauty salon from your e-commerce, or if you are a producer needing to ship to your distributors, be ready to manage your packaging and transporting operations in compliance with all Regulations that rule the shipments of dangerous goods. There are specific rules about packaging and labeling beauty products: these rules must always be applied to allow safe shipments and always be on time.

Always check Regulations requests about the products you need to ship and ask an expert for consultancy and adequate assistance to choose the correct packaging, labels, and marking. It’s all about safety for people and goods, and cost control because you can avoid the stopping of your goods or fines and sanctions.

SHIP SAFE, THINK SERPAC!

Many people may reckon dangerous goods are strange or unusual objects locked up in labs or industrial buildings; some may think of explosive, toxic, or radioactive material. Unfortunately, this is not the case. Dangerous goods are everywhere: they’re not only raw chemicals or industrial tools. Many commonly and daily used products are hazardous if transported without due precautions and therefore require special shipping, made in compliance with all different Regulations.

For instance, we all know that anything that comes in aerosol form is hazardous because it can explode during transport: this is why you can’t fly with hairspray or similar products in your luggage. Aerosol cans work whit compressed air, which propels the product out when a person presses the trigger. If a can should overheat during transport, the gas inside will have nowhere to expand and this may cause the explosion of the can.
